Signs of Dependent Personality Disorder

The dependent disorder is often seen in individuals who are often scared to navigate the world on their own. Anxiety, fear, and doubt often kick in when they have no one by their side.

Here are a few signs that show you have this disorder:

1. Deep fear of being alone

One of the most prominent signs of dependency disorder is fear of being alone. People with this disorder don’t only worry about the present; they think about the future.

They think of what will become of them if they lose their favorite aunt or their loved ones. It’s normal to fear or feel sad about the loss of a loved one, but people with this disorder they always frequently fear the loss of a loved one or the end of a relationship.

2. The Fear Of Rejection

We all might have faced rejection at some point in our lives, be it when applying for a job, from a crush, or at school. Rejection can be upsetting but people with dependent disorder have a deep fear of rejection.

This prevents them from challenging themselves or trying out new parts of life they aren’t used to. They are enemies of change and even if they finally come out of their shells and get rejected, it leaves an everlasting scar in their life.

3. Love being in at least one relationship

People with dependent personality disorder are scared of being alone. They enter a co-dependency relationship where one can’t exist without the other and in situations where it ends it leaves the person vulnerable and helpless. They don’t end the cycle or try to be a better version of themselves, they go on to find a replacement immediately because they can’t do anything on their own.

4. Codependent Personality Disorder Fears Separation

It’s normal to be afraid of losing people, especially our loved ones but for people who have this disorder, the fear is extreme. They can start having anxiety disorder by the mere thought of it.

5. Difficulty Starting And Maintaining Close Interpersonal Relationships

People with codependent personality disorder always find it hard to maintain relationships. People always want time for themselves, a period they can reflect on their actions; everyone loves alone time except people with this disorder and it becomes a problem for people around them.
